Best of 2012: Arrakeen from Singapore

Best of 2012: Arrakeen from Singapore
Name: Arrakeen
Location: Singapore

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?

Arrakeen: I’ve gotta say it’s been coming along pretty alright so far! As a producer, I’m beginning to receive the exposure resulting from the hard work I’ve been putting in to find and create my own signature sound… I had an early year remix project in February with Camouflage, and was approached by several other labels for remix projects which I had to unfortunately turn down, due to time constraints and balancing producing and work life… It wasn’t completely stagnant of course; so on the up side, I do have two truly great releases coming out early 2013 on the always awesome Camouflage, so I do hope my fans will lend their support and stay tuned! These are really gonna be something… I’m really excited about the upcoming year!

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?

Simon Lee & Alvin: 2012 has been a huge year for us! It’s our 5th year of Radio KUL and we’re so happy with the continued support from 1 Mix Radio! We’ve been able to feature so many amazing EDM artistes on the show – it’s so great to have them share their music and experiences with the listeners – most notably Molly Bancroft, Madelin Zero, and the many guest DJ sets that we’ve featured. We also celebrated our 200th episode this year – thanks to singers Hadley and Cristina Soto for hosting those special editions! And we mixed Radio KUL Vol. 02 that went to #32 on the Beatport Mixes chart.
Personally as DJs, we finished our debut single “Count The Stars” that just got released on the legendary Black Hole Recordings. I think that was the most important thing we did this year - just spending plenty of time in the studio finishing a lot of music and edits that we can use in our radio shows and performances.
We played some really great gigs this year too - some small, some bigger. And we won a local dance music award (Choons Award) for our radio show.
So yes, we cannot ask for more and it’s been so humbling to have all this success in 2012.
It will be very hard to top this year!

I like trance a lot, so I make different kind of trance. But I think I have to stay more to the tech trance in 2013.

I honestly could not have asked for a better year!  There were so many important milestones:  playing two massive festivals for US top promoter Insomniac Events; headlining my first show in Africa; appearing on Nick Warren’s Renaissance compilation; and signing with Nick’s respected label ‘Hope Recordings’.

Best of 2012: Harmonic Agenda

Best of 2012: John SHarmonic Agendavartberg
Name: John Svartberg - alias: Harmonic Agenda.
Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?
Harmonic Agenda: 2012 has been a Great year for me, both as a person and in my musical career. In early spring this year, my beautiful daughter was born. She is my firstborn child, and it has been an amazing journey so far. Being a dad is life changing, and I love every bit of it. She gives me so much inspiration every day.
Since being a parent takes up a lot of time, my focus hasn’t been put into my music this year. But I’ve had a few releases, and two of them are really special to me.
Drylight - Tin Box (Harmonic Agenda Remix), has a very unique sound coming from me. It is not Trance.. it is not Pop.. it is an electronic mixture of my feelings that I managed to capture during my girlfriend’s pregnancy. It means a lot to me.
Harmonic Agenda - Philly Fox (Original Mix), is a milestone in my early career. This is my first original track, released on Nemesis (Subtraxx). I managed to express exactly what Harmonic Agenda means to me - progressive beats, with lots of percussion, tension pads, harmonic leads, deep cutting saw basses and funky plucks. I am really proud to have this tune in my line-up.

Best of 2012: Iversoon & Alex Daf

Best of 2012: Iversoon & Alex Daf
Name: Iversoon & Alex Daf
Location: Ukraine

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?

Iversoon & Alex Daf: We have to admit that this year was very productive for Iversoon & Alex Daf, and we have been working hard on it. We have been released more than 15 singles and EPs as well as compilations in which our tracks were included. Our main achievement in 2012 was signing to Armada and Black Hole. That makes us really happy, and as a result our gig schedule has increased and we’ve started to get more orders for remixes and that’s great too.

Dimitri: If you look back at 2012, are there any moments in your musical career that you wish you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?

Iversoon & Alex Daf: We are pretty happy with what is happening now, and how 2012 has turned out for Iversoon & Alex Daf. We consider this year to be full of new experiences and achievements in a producer's aspect. Of course, we have experienced a lot of difficulties, but everyone has them eventually. We are looking for a good booking manager at the moment.

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?

Morten Breum: I started working with my new management team and we had a mutual goal from day one. First priority was to move to LA, where joining forces with other artists is less of a challenge. From a creative perspective, I needed a new inspiration, a breath of fresh air and a change of scenery. LA is a very creative and inspiring city; it has a special vibe. So far, things have been great. We have made a lot of progress during the last year. I’m sure 2013 will be even better!

Markus Schulz World Tour - Best Of 2012

Markus Schulz World Tour - Best Of 2012
Markus Schulz World Tour - Best Of 2012. It’s been the year in which readers of Stateside EDM bible DJ Times voted him America’s Best DJ. The year that (with zeitgeist timing) his ‘Los Angeles ’12’ compilation-captured the moment another American metropolis went supernova and with ‘Scream’ he hit his fourth artist album homerun. Now to cap off one of the most incredible 365s of his career, Markus Schulz is taking you on tour with him. Recorded live throughout the year, track by ballistic track, ‘World Tour - Best Of 2012’ whistle-stops you country-to–country and club-to-club.
Pack your bag Club-Citizen – we’re going around the world in 80 minutes.
Every month for the last five years, Markus Schulz has beamed his in-club experiences into living rooms, gyms, offices and car stereos everywhere. Zeroing in on one city, one big event and one dependably up-for-it crowd, he digitally captures it for the monthly Global DJ Broadcast World Tour show. Catching every fader flip, every tweak of the treble, every firing of the FX unit and every resultant reactive cheer, World Tour sets get you as ringside as its possible to get (without stepping on a plane).
