Best of 2013 Interview: Basil O’Glue

Best of 2013 Interview: Basil O’Glue. Basil O’Glue (Haris Vasiloglou) born and raised in Athens, now lives in a small city near Thessaloniki – Northern Greece.

He has studied 3d animation and graphic design, and now works as a photographer.

As a teenager he loved electronic music, especially bands as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers etc. A few years later he started to produce his own music with some amateur software. His first attempts were really not cool, but after getting his first midi keyboard and some equipment while learning new software, there was an obvious improvement. His producing tools are, Propellerheads Reason, some mastering vst plug-in and a couple of good monitors!

Now with Styller is the co-owner of the very successful must check record label Saturate Audio gracing support from Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Solarstone and more.
Interview was written and conducted by Dimitri Kechagias, Music Journalist, Radio & DJ.

Dimitri:  Can you tell us about your achievements in your music career in 2013 as DJ &/or producer?

Basil O’Glue:  Hi there Dimitri. Thanks for the interview. The last couple of years I focused on remixing, and not so much on original productions. I love remixing; it gives me a motivation to show how I can change a track from its first version.

But doing this for quite a long time, it corrupts you. And at some point I wanted to start working on original productions. So in 2013 I did four originals, one collaboration and just one  remix which will be released in 2014.

I released a 2 track EP , "Gilgamesh / Sigil" on my label (Saturate Audio), a 2 track EP on Afterglow, "Till The Next Day" / "Step Two" and some days ago, my collaboration with Wellenrausch "Wickaninnish, also to Afterglow Records.

Plus 2 of the tracks I mentioned were featured on Markus Schulz's CD compilation "Buenos Aires 13" (Gilgamesh/Wickaninnish).

Dimitri: If you look back on 2013, are there any events in your music career that you wished you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?
