Best of 2013 Interview: Hugo de Graaf, A&R Manager Wildife / Rub A Duck for Black Hole Recordings
Best of 2013 Interview: Hugo de Graaf, A&R Manager Wildife / Rub A Duck for Black Hole Recordings. In the early years of the new millennium 2000 he began as the graphic designer for Black Hole Recordings including all its sub labels, creating practically every known vinyl-, CD- and CD single cover that’s currently in the Black Hole Recordings catalogue. His personal interest in electronic dance later on also got him several remix assignments for tracks like To The Floor by Andy Duguid, Sine Language by the Crystal Method Featuring LMFAO and it also led to his own productions under the moniker of Dunugoz vs Tha Roofas releasing such hit singles as Anita’s Theme and The Cross Eyed Indian.
In late 2010/early 2011 Hugo became the label manager of his own sub label to the Black Hole imprint, entitled Rub A Duck, with a strong focus on high powered underground dubstep, glitch hop, electro, breaks and electro house. The acclaimed releases of Rub A Duck didn’t go unnoticed and in a short period of time the label signed acts like The Freestylers, Drumline & Bassline Smith, Wetdog, Relay & Front, Piyush Bhatnagar, Franky Nuts, Hectic, Jagged HedZ and many others. Famous artists like Cookie Monsta, Ed Rush & Optical, Damn You Mongolians and Datsik all remixed several singles for the imprint and other heavyweights like John B, Dub Pistols and Steve Oaki made it clear that they supported the releases.

Review: Dyro feat. Radboud - You Gotta Know (Original Mix)

Review: Dyro feat. Radboud - You Gotta Know (Original Mix).
Review: Dyro feat. Radboud - You Gotta Know (Original Mix). Eclectic Dutch trailblazer and DJ Mag Top 100 Poll's "highest new entry" Dyro has had a lot of reasons to celebrate throughout 2013. Off the heels of upfront club offering 'Go Down' and earlier collaborative landmark 'Never Say Goodbye', alongside new World #1 DJ Hardwell and Heather Bright, the young artist returns to Revealed Recordings armed with a brand new vocal offering to close his most prolific year to date. Fusing his signature big room sound with catchy melodic progressions, the addition of Radboud's well-formed topline does not impede on the peak time perfection that this young talent has continued to employ throughout his trademark sound.

Review: Ferry Corsten & JES - In Your Eyes (Dirty Chips Remix)

Up next, "In Your Eyes", the sleeper hit by JES and Ferry Corsten from his WKND album gets and earth shaking progressive remix from future super producers "Dirty Chips". Impacting Radio now with an infectious rhythm and sensual vocals. One listen and you'll know, this will rock your ears and the dance floor! Thanks to Planet Jes for the awesome promo!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The awesome DJ and singer JES is rocking the world with her radio show 'Unleash The Beat' which has already reached its fifty fourth episode. Her collaboration with the legend and EDM pioneer Ferry Corsten for his album WKND called In Your Eyes gets the big room epic progressive house treatment by the upcoming UK duo Dirty Chips. Their remix is what the crowds demands these days; dynamic pumping beats, rough and sharp basslines, while on the breakdown the tracks become really romantic and atmospheric, with sweet mesmerising melodies, huge piano chords to sooth your soul, and support from the fantastic voice of JES, which once again shines and stands out with her highly emotional and heartfelt performance.

Review: Rank 1 - 13.11.11 out on High Contrast Recordings

Rank 1 - 13.11.11 out on High Contrast Recordings
Rank 1 singles are gems every bit as much through their scarcity as their ability to send floors supernova. When the Dutch pairing of Benno de Goeij & Piet Bervoets have something to say studio-side though, it's always worth listening to. 2013 has already brought the thrilling sonic compulsion of M.I.K.E. collaboration 'Elements of Life' and the big-room-boom/title-says-it-all 'Floorlifter'.

Now though prepare for one of the most extraordinary, atypical, riveting, downright brilliant recordings you'll hear this year. '13.11.11' is its name… it's BPM, runtime and its release date, all rolled into one.High concept, huh!?

Maverick as much by design as intent, '13.11.11' rolls out with prog-trance force and tempo (131.111 bpms on the nose!), with its deep, sonorous bass-building atmosphere. Don't think it's going to hang around there too long though…

Winter Vandit Nights 2013 With Paul Van Dyk @ Kesselhaus, Kulturbrauerei, Berlin - 14.12.2013. In season-honoured tradition, going back half a decade or more, this December 14th Paul van Dyk will begin his final countdown to Christmas with another bravura performance on his home-turf of Berlin. In the comfortably customary setting of the German capital’s über-fine Kesselhaus Culture Brewery, he’ll be celebrating another year of VANDIT Records sounds, sights and experiences. Helping to heat those undoubtedly chilly streets will be fellow knights of the Winter Night Arnej and Alex M.O.R.P.H.  Giving yet greater cause for festivity, the event will also play host to the release party for the new PvD-mixed ‘VONYC Sessions: 2013’ compilation.
On December 14th all roads lead to Berlin and to the doors of Kesselhaus… Get there by any means necessary!

The fridge is starting to bulge, the tree is just about standing straight and it’s getting dark right after lunch. It can mean but just one thing… Christmas is coming up fast! There’s always one more weekend for some proper kinetic club-side action before you hang up your clubbing shoes (and stockings!) for the holidays though. The second weekend of December will see PvD and the VANDIT label crew storm the doors of Berlin’s famed Kesselhaus club spot for another edition of Winter Nights.
