Interview: Jordan Suckley about his ASOT650 performance at The Jaarbeurs in Utrecht

Interview: Jordan Suckley about his ASOT650 performance at The Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. ASOT 650 at The Jaarbeurs in Utrecht was a huge success. It was SOLD OUT and attracted nearly 35,000 visitors from all around the world who traveled to the Netherlands especially to attend this exceptional event, which for many is characterised as historic. Armin van Buuren celebrated his 650 episode of his globally known and highly respected radio show ASOT in 4 unique areas where each had its own unique sound. The Mainstage, ASOT Invites, New Horizons and the fantastic Who’s Afraid of 138?! stage specially dedicated to those who like it harder and tougher. The DJs who performed on that stage were Paul Webster, former 1Mix Radio resident Ian Standerwick, Jordan Suckley, Sean Tyas, Photographer, massive uplifting 138 BPM Armin van Buuren DJ set, Bryan Kearney, Manuel Le Saux & Ferry Tayle.
The upcoming and highly requested DJ, producer, radio host and label owner of Damaged records Jordan Suckley rocked it at the Who’s Afraid of 138? area. His performance was intense, powerful, inspiring and extremely diverse with a wide variety of trance gems from the finest record labels including many Damaged records forthcoming releases. We caught up with him to talk about his performance at ASOT650, to find out the tunes that really drive the crowd wild at this unforgettable night, and we to asked his opinion about Armin van Buuren's radio show ASOT, and finally his forthcoming projects.

Dimitri: What is your opinion about Armin van Buuren's big achievement of to reach 650 episodes of his radio show, and what is the most important secret in managing to a sold out an event in such a huge venue?

Jordan Suckley: Huge respect to Armin and his team on this great achievement. It must have been very stressful to put on such a huge event, but the end results were fantastic! It was my favorite gig that I have ever done.

Dimitri: How was your DJ set at ASOT650 Utrecht? Did you have a great time?

Jordan Suckley: Yeah I loved it. Every so often there would be a flash of lights across the dance floor and I could see the thousands of clubbers partying. What an experience!

Dimitri: Which track in your set got the best reaction from the crowd and is there a moment that you maybe will never forget from ASOT650 Utrecht?

Jordan Suckley: That’s a tough one. I think it was either my new track "Jordan Suckley- It's Never Enough" or "Sam Jones & Will Rees- Fire drill,” which is coming soon on my label Damaged and was also played in the main room at ASOT 650 by Aly & Fila too!

Dimitri: You have a new radio show called Damaged. Can you tell us more about it and what are your plans with it in the future? Are you inspired by Armin’s radio show?

Jordan Suckley: Yeah, I am 100% inspired by everything Armin has done. I started Damaged this year because I wanted something fresh and new to push and it seems to have been received well so far. I have big plans for Damaged, so it will be much more than a label and a radio show.

Dimitri: ASOT Utrecht managed to bring people together from all around the globe and more than 35,000 trance lovers. Do you believe that this is a sign that trance music is definitely back for good?

Jordan Suckley: I didn't think Trance or its fans ever went anywhere. It was just a few big producers that changed their sound to House. Although, seeing the masses turn out at trance events all around the world, it’s great to see there is still such a huge following for the music even after all these years.

Dimitri: Can you outline in some phrases your future releases and activities related to your career as a DJ & producer?

Jordan Suckley: I have lots of gigs coming up all over the world and lots of new music including:
-Jordan Suckley & Paul Webster- ‘Help’ (Original Mix) Damaged
-Jordan Suckley- Access (Original Miix)
-A remix for Paul Oakenfold.
-Collaborations lined up with Paul van Dyk for Politics of Dancing 3, Simon Patterson, Mark Sherry & Bryan Kearney and lots more!
