Brighton Music Conference [BMC] is shaping up to be a major business conference for the UK electronic music industry next April.
Ableton, Native Instruments, and Sennheiser have all confirmed BMC showcases for their latest DJ and music production products. Funktion-One are BMC’s official sound partner, and its founder and audio legend Tony Andrews will discuss the importance of audio quality on the exhibition floor.
Pioneer evangelist Rik Parkinson will be in attendance, and will discuss the intersection of hardware, controllers and software with techno’s Dave Clarke and ex Rhythm Master Steve Mac. Online powerhouse Mixcloud are also an official BMC partner and will host a pre-event DJ competition (details to be announced later).
An art exhibition entitled Brighton’s Dance Music Legacy, will honour the city’s dance music heritage by recognising 15 of Brighton’s most important releases which attendees will be able to learn about and listen to via a web app.
BMC’s official charity partner will be 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life'. The foundation will host a special fund-raising party during the conference with an A-list DJ. Previously their work has financed the building of a clean water well for an Indian tribe, music therapy sessions for vulnerable children, and raised awareness around the world for Peace Day by asking DJs to do a Set For Peace.
On January 18, Brighton-based record label Skint will host a BMC teaser party at the city’s Digital club. The label, best known for its once peerless roster fronted by Brighton DJ Fatboy Slim, has hosted a range of eclectic events across the UK in the past year or so. Previous headliners have included label associates X-Press 2, and The Streets’ Mike Skinner. Line-up to be announced soon.
Whilst the club event schedule for April 11 and 12 is strictly under wraps for now, BMC is ready to announce its first label showcase. Respected UK underground house label Hypercolour will host a label night on April 12, featuring some of the scene’s hottest DJ talent.
